The homicide rate in Brazil fell 24.9% in the last decade, going from 28.9 to 21.7 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants .
The reduction from 2021 to 2022 was 3.6% .
Most violent states in 2022 (homicides per 100,000 inhabitants)
Bahia — 45.1
Amazonas — 42.5
Amapá — 40.5
Roraima — 38.6
Pernambuco — 35.2
➡ Bahia was the most violent state in Brazil in 2022, with a rate more than double the national average. Despite this, it showed a reduction of 6.4% compared to 2021.

Causes of violence in the North and Northeast
Dispute between criminal factions for control of drug trafficking, especially in border areas.
Expansion of drug trafficking in the 2010s, increasing the territorial war in states such as Acre, Amazonas and capitals of the Northeast.
Significant reductions in some states
Acre, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Sergipe and Goiás have recorded a drop in homicides since 2016/2017 .
Acre stood out for the integration of security agencies , such as the Public Ministry, the Security Secretariat and the police.

Bahia : Highlights police actions that reduced violent deaths by 6% in 2023 and 13% in the first half of 2024 .
Amazonas : Claims that, in 2024, the azerbaijan mobile database rate fell by 15.5% , thanks to investments in security.
Roraima : Reports reduction in Intentional Violent Deaths, according to the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook.
