Amazon has been in the headlines of all the media for a few years now. It has garnered headlines both for and against its policies and has done so again with its latest innovation: Amazon Go .

Jeff Bezos has always been one step ahead of the competition . He saw that the Internet was the future and bet on online sales with his bookstore. This bet has led him to become one of the most important companies and has enabled him to obtain profits all over the world.

In this framework of innovation, Amazon has been preparing its big bet for several years: Amazon Go , a new type of store that allows you to shop without having to carry cards or cash to pay.

No queues and no waiting
Amazon Go wants to turn the act of shopping into a simple gesture. Its implementation is very simple: you see something you want, you grab it and you take it. You don't have to interact with anyone or wait in line.

The store is located in Seattle , near the dominican republic number data Amazon campus, and they have everything from basic necessities like bread and milk, to prepared meals and all kinds of grocery products. They also have a small selection of wines and beers.

You need to download the free Amazon Go app to enter the store. Customers enter the store through the turnstiles by scanning a QR code . Once inside, you can freely put your phone away, as everything you pick up is added to your virtual shopping list. And rest assured, if you decide to leave an item, it will be removed from the list.

So how does Amazon Go work?
In the store, they use high-tech cameras and sensors. The combination of both ensures that everything is in its place by keeping track of where items are located.

Both have incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) , deep learning algorithms , and sensors like those we can see in cars. They call it "just walk out technology ." In this way, they create a "virtual cart" with what you carry in your bag.

This technology is not yet perfect and many YouTubers have already found out that it is very easy to steal items from the store.

Is it a completely autonomous store?
Not yet, because you can find employees who will help you with your queries, who prepare the food in a kitchen attached to the store and who are responsible for replenishing stock.

Amazon's Seattle store is currently their pilot , and they hope to expand it to other locations as soon as possible.

This poses a new business model for supermarkets and many may copy their idea. But it is not something we will see in the near future . We must be cautious and thoroughly analyse the benefits and costs, the impact on business and how Amazon Go (or similar) can alter the labour market.
