The Crazy Horse Memorial was carved from a single rock and is the largest in the world. In 1948, work on this grandiose project was begun by the American sculptor of Polish origin Korczak Ziółkowski. According to his plan, the finished sculpture of the leader was to be 172 meters high and 195 meters wide. However, in 1982, the sculptor died, so the monument remained unfinished.
