At least 13 people were killed and more than 30 wounded in a suicide bombing at an election rally in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday. Reuters.
Ataullah Khagyani, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said a militant suicide bomber carried out the attack on a rally of supporters of Nasir Mohammad, a parliamentary candidate in the eastern Nangarhar province.
The BBC reported that the country's much-awaited parliamentary country email list elections are on October 20. The rally was being held to campaign for the election.
A person named Syed Humayun, who was present at the election rally, said, "Suddenly, a huge explosion occurred during the rally. I lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, I opened my eyes and saw dismembered bodies lying around."
Provincial council member Sohrab Qaderi said there were about 250 people at the gathering in Qamar. He claimed that at least 30 of them were killed and many more were injured. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
